Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 22, 2026 Last updated: July 8, 2026
1. Introduction
Rezona ("Rezona," "the App," "we," "us," or "our") is an AI voice companion app operated by Ascent Labs, based in India. Rezona lets you have spoken conversations with AI companions ("personas").
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used and shared, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have. Rezona is intended only for adults aged 18 and over. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
You can reach us any time at support@ascentlabs.in.
2. Privacy at a glance
- An account is required. You sign in with an email address and password, or with Google or Apple. Authentication is handled by our provider Clerk (Section 6).
- Your conversations are stored on your device and on our servers. We keep transcripts, short conversation summaries, and details your companion remembers about you (like your city or interests) so companions can remember you between sessions.
- Your voice is processed in the cloud to work. When you speak, your audio and the resulting text are sent to our backend and to trusted third-party AI providers to transcribe your speech, generate a reply, and turn that reply into speech. This is the core function of a voice app. Voice recordings are never stored.
- We ask before your first conversation. The App shows you exactly what is shared and with whom, and asks for your consent, before your first conversation.
- No advertising, no tracking, no selling your data.
- Your data is never used to train AI models.
- You're in control. Delete all conversations and remembered details, or your entire account, at any time in the App.
3. Information we collect
We practice data minimization and collect only what the App needs to function.
3.1 Account information
- Email address and sign-in credentials: collected when you create an account (email/password, or your Google or Apple identity when you use social sign-in). This information is collected and stored by our authentication provider, Clerk (Section 6). Our own servers store only your account's unique identifier and your name — never your email, password, or social credentials.
- Name: the name on your account (entered at sign-up or in Settings). It is stored with your account and on our servers, and is included in requests to our AI language-model providers so companions can address you personally.
3.2 Profile details
- Age: an optional age you may enter in Settings. It is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
3.3 Voice and conversation content
- Voice recordings: when you hold the push-to-talk button and speak, the App captures your audio and sends it (streamed live, or as a short clip) for transcription. Recordings are processed in the moment and never stored — not by us, and not persisted by the App.
- Transcripts and replies: your transcribed speech and the persona's replies are stored on your device and on our servers, so you can resume conversations and your companion can remember them.
- Summaries and remembered details: after a conversation, we process its transcript with an AI language model (Section 6) to create a short summary and to extract details you chose to share — for example your city, job, interests, mood, or goals. These are stored on our servers and included in future requests to our AI language-model providers to personalize replies.
3.4 Information collected automatically
- Connection data: to deliver the service, our servers necessarily process basic network information such as your IP address and general device/OS information for the duration of a request. We use this only to operate and secure the service, never to build a profile of you or track you across apps or websites.
- Usage metrics: we record minimal usage accounting (such as the amount of generated speech per day) to enforce fair-use limits. These records are not conversation content.
- Microphone access: requested solely to capture your push-to-talk audio. If denied, voice features will not work, but the rest of the App remains usable where possible.
3.5 What we do NOT collect
We do not collect or request contacts, precise location, photos, or advertising identifiers (IDFA), and we collect no data for advertising or cross-app tracking. Rezona uses no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We never store your voice recordings and never create a voiceprint (Section 13).
4. How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- transcribe your spoken input (speech-to-text, including correcting transcription errors), generate the persona's reply (language model), and synthesize it into speech (text-to-speech);
- personalize replies using your name and the summaries and remembered details described in Section 3.3;
- keep your conversations available on your device and on our servers so you can resume them;
- authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- enforce fair-use limits, and operate, secure, debug, and prevent abuse of the service.
We do not use your information for advertising, cross-app tracking, or to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Where your data lives and your controls
- On your device: your conversation history and settings (including the optional age) are stored in the App's local storage.
- On our servers: your account identifier and name, conversation transcripts, conversation summaries, remembered details, and usage accounting are stored in our database, hosted on Microsoft Azure.
- With Clerk: your email address and sign-in credentials are stored by our authentication provider (Section 6).
Your controls, available any time in the App:
- Settings → Delete All Chat History permanently deletes all conversations, transcripts, summaries, and remembered details — from your device and from our servers.
- Settings → Delete Account permanently deletes everything above plus your account itself, including the account record held by Clerk.
- Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device. It does not delete the copy on our servers — use the in-app controls above (or email us) for that.
6. Third-party service providers (sub-processors)
To function, Rezona sends your data to the following providers, each acting as our processor. Which AI providers process your data depends on which companion you're speaking with — not every conversation uses every provider below. We require these providers to protect your data to a standard at least equivalent to this Policy and as required by applicable law.
OpenAI — receives your voice audio in real time to perform speech-to-text. OpenAI's API terms state that API inputs are not used to train their models. Retention is governed by OpenAI's own privacy policy.
Google (Gemini) — receives your conversation text (your transcribed speech and recent conversation history), your first name, and the summaries and remembered details described in Section 3.3, to generate the AI reply. We use Google's paid API offering, under which content is not used to train or improve Google's models. Retention is governed by Google's API terms and privacy policy.
Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service — for some companions, receives your voice audio (for transcription) and conversation text (with your name and remembered details) to generate the AI reply. Azure OpenAI also processes conversation transcripts after a session ends to produce the summaries and remembered details described in Section 3.3, and to correct speech-to-text errors. Microsoft does not use prompts or completions to train models. For abuse monitoring, a sampled subset of content may be retained for up to 30 days within the configured Azure region, accessible only to authorized reviewers under strict controls, then deleted.
ElevenLabs and/or Fish Audio — receive the text of the AI reply (and the selected voice) to perform text-to-speech. They never receive your own words or voice. Their handling is governed by their own privacy policies and our agreements with them; we do not permit use of your content to train models where that option is available to us.
Clerk — our authentication provider. Clerk collects and stores your email address, password (or Google/Apple sign-in identity), and name, and issues the session tokens the App uses to talk to our servers. Clerk acts as our processor for this account data.

7. Data retention and deletion
- On your device: retained until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App.
- Our servers: conversation transcripts, summaries, and remembered details are retained until you delete them with Settings → Delete All Chat History or Settings → Delete Account. Your account record (identifier and name) is retained until you delete your account. Usage accounting is retained only as long as needed for fair-use enforcement.
- Clerk: your account data is retained until you delete your account in the App, which also deletes the record held by Clerk.
- AI providers: retain data only transiently for processing, except that Azure OpenAI may retain a sampled subset for up to 30 days for security and abuse-monitoring purposes, after which it is deleted. None of this content is used to train AI models.
To ask about retention or request deletion of any data we or our processors may hold, contact support@ascentlabs.in.
8. Data sharing and disclosure
We share your information only with the service providers in Section 6 (strictly to provide the App's features); if required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request; or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or our service.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
9. Age requirement
Rezona is intended only for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used the App, contact support@ascentlabs.in and we will take appropriate steps, including deletion of any associated data where applicable.
10. Your privacy rights
You can exercise the most important rights directly in the App: delete all conversation data via Settings → Delete All Chat History, or delete your account and everything associated with it via Settings → Delete Account.
- EEA / UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and data portability. Our legal bases are performing the service you request, your consent to sharing data with our AI providers (collected in the App before your first conversation), and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to know, delete, and correct — note we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- India (DPDP Act): rights to access, correction, and erasure, and to grievance redressal.
To make a request or raise a complaint, contact support@ascentlabs.in. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/secure WebSocket), encryption at rest on our managed database infrastructure, access controls on our servers, and industry-standard account security through our authentication provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International data transfers
To provide the service, your data may be processed and stored on servers operated by us and our providers, which may be located outside your country, including in the United States and the regions used by our AI and infrastructure providers. Where required, such transfers are carried out under appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
13. A note on voice data
We use your voice recordings solely to transcribe what you say and generate a spoken reply for that conversation. Recordings are processed in real time and never stored. We do not use your voice to create a voiceprint, to identify you biometrically, or for any purpose other than providing the conversation you requested.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the App evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
